Maziar Ramezani is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Flinders University. His expertise spans mechanical design, additive manufacturing, advanced manufacturing processes, computational modelling and simulation, tribology, surface engineering, and materials engineering. His research focuses on developing and applying advanced manufacturing technologies and hybrid manufacturing processes to enable the design and manufacture of innovative materials, components, and engineering solutions.

Prior to joining Flinders University, he held academic positions at Auckland University of Technology, UNSW Sydney, and Universiti Sains Malaysia. His career spans research, teaching, postgraduate supervision, academic leadership, and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

His work combines engineering design, computational methods, materials, manufacturing, and experimental investigation to understand and solve complex engineering problems. An important aspect of his work is translating research outcomes into practical applications through collaboration with industry, government, and research organisations. He works closely with industry partners to identify technical challenges, develop innovative solutions, and establish collaborative research and development projects. He is particularly interested in building long-term partnerships that connect fundamental and applied research with real-world needs.

He is committed to advancing manufacturing technologies that improve performance, efficiency, and sustainability, and to strengthening the connection between research and industrial practice. He also contributes to the development of the next generation of engineers and researchers through research-led teaching and postgraduate supervision.
