Dr Mia Shepherdson

Dr Mia Shepherdson is a General Surgery Registrar at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and an Associate Lecturer at Flinders University.

Mia completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours) at Flinders University in 2017, where her thesis focused on the role of mTOR in regulating miRNA expression and exosome secretion in breast cancer cells. Mia went on to complete a Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University and an internship in 2022. During her intern year, she completed a Masters of Surgery with the University of Sydney exploring the incidence and survival rates of young-onset gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma during her disseration. In 2025, Mia began General Surgery GSET training and remains committed to contributing to both clinical practice and medical research. As an Associate Lecturer at Flinders University, she has been actively involved in medical education, mentoring students, and delivering case-based tutorials.
