Polina Mazonka is a Communications Coordinator within the Discipline of Trauma and Injury and the FHMRI Health Equity Impact Program (HEIP) in the College of Medicine and Public Health, providing communications, research translation, and administrative support. She is passionate about health equity and making research accessible and understandable for diverse audiences.

To support research translation, Polina launched and manages the Trauma & Injury and HEIP social media channels, using them as a vital tool to disseminate research findings and engage with community and non-scientific audiences in culturally appropriate ways. She draws on skills in content creation, stakeholder engagement, and culturally safe communication to ensure research is presented clearly and effectively for a wide range of audiences.

With her scientific background as a Research Assistant at the Flinders University International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing, and on the Nra:gi Ya:yun clinical trial with the Discipline of Trauma & Injury, Polina applies her scientific experience to enhance the clarity and impact of her communications. In these roles, she contributed to improving health equity by supporting point-of-care (diabetes, STI, respiratory) testing, delivering training, facilitating diabetes screening, and assisting with projects in rural and remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
