Professor Tarun Bastiampillai has worked as consultant psychiatrist in both the UK and Australia and is a Professor of Psychiatry at Flinders University. He is also the SALHN Mental Health Research Lead and an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Monash University. He was appointed the SA Health Executive Director of Mental Health Strategy between 2015-2018 and as a FMC Clinical Director between 2010-2014. He was the recipient of the RANZCP 2020 Margaret Tobin award for psychiatry leadership.
He has published extensively in a number of areas including schizophrenia, psychopharmacology, pharmaceutical science, digital health, epidemiology, health policy, health services research and suicide. His research has received funding through the NHMRC Ideas grant and the MRFF.
