Dr TH Farook's expertise and interests lie within the sphere of digital healthcare. His specific interests include 1) medical image processing (CT, CBCT etc.), 2) occlusion and temporomandibular joint disorders, 3) dental sleep medicine, 4) laser scanning and intraoral scanning, 5) clinical microphotography and stereophotogrammetry, and 6) CAD-CAM
Dr Farook is an experimental researcher, MedTech entrepreneur, and overseas-qualified dentist with broad experience in digital healthcare and academic research across Australia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and the UK. He has led research projects to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and affordable dental technology into clinical diagnostics. Dr Farook was the winner of the International Student of the Year 2023 Award and Academic Excellence: Postgraduate Research, awarded by the Government of South Australia and decorated by the Governor of South Australia. Dr Farook was also one of the finalists of the Australian e-Challenge 2022 and winner of the Enabled Solution Award for entrepreneurial excellence as a founder of the Dental Loop initiative (www.dentalloop.au). In 2024, he was awarded the Dean's Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence and Doctoral Medal upon completion of his PhD in Dentistry from the University of Adelaide.
Dr Farook has experience in organising and leading workshops, public speaking, and academic teaching, and has published his work with highly reputed peer-reviewed journals. Dr Farook is also the author of the textbook "A Guide to Effective Communication in Dentistry" first published in January 2025.

Dr Farook serves as an academic tutor for BDS undergraduate simulation clinic at Adelaide Dental School, University of Adelaide
Dr Farook maintains professional membership with the Australian Dental Association and the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
Beyond research, Dr Farook is actively involved in community services, working with the Community Outreach Dental Program (CODP) at Housing Choices Australia. He has developed a series of audiovisual training curriculum, induction modules, and Infection Control Manual, in use since May 2025, to prepare undergraduate dental students for clinical rotations at CODP to treat marginalised populations across Adelaide.
Dr Farook has volunteered extensively at the University of Adelaide, serving as a Senior Academic Integrity Ambassador from 2022 to 2024 and continues to volunteer for the Children’s University Program that fosters the tertiary education learning mindset among South Australian children.
Internationally, He contributed remotely to oral health awareness campaigns supporting neglected children and sex workers in Daulatdia, Bangladesh, one of the world’s largest brothel towns, through conceptualising and funding research designs and providing clinical data collection guidance.
