Professor Timothy Cavagnaro

As Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research Training and Capabilities), Tim provides strategic leadership for Higher Degree by Research training and major initiatives that build research capability, strengthen partnerships and increase the reach and impact of research at Flinders University. His portfolio encompasses the Research Training Hub, Higher Degrees by Research, strategic projects, community and industry engagement, and the University’s international research agenda.

Tim is also Professor of Soil Ecology. His research examines how land management and environmental change affect soil ecosystem services, with particular interests in soil microbiomes, ecological intensification, soil carbon sequestration and plant–microbe interactions. His current work spans broadacre cropping, vineyards, orchards and urban agriculture, with a strong focus on connecting science and policy.
