Vanessa Ryan

Vanessa is Director of the Rural Clinical School and Teaching Program Director (Clinical) in the College of Medicine and Public Health. In her role as Director of the Rural Clinical School Vanessa provides leadership across the student learning experiences within the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in Rural South Australia. As Teaching Program Director, Vanessa provides educational leadership and contributes to enhancing the student experience across the four clinical courses in the College of Medicine and Public Health.She is passionate about improving education to prepare our future clinicians for work readiness focusing on the ability to adapt to the future challenges of health care. Vanessa has an impressive record of achievement and expertise in curriculum and program leadership, development, implementation and review.

Her clinical background and strategic collaborations with industry, clinicians and communities provides a strong foundation to scaffold clinical education relevant to the rural context.

Vanessa is currently enrolled in a PhD, investigating medical student experiences of the first full year of learning in the clinical context.
