Vijini is a Research Associate in Bioinformatics at the Flinders Accelerator for Microbiome Exploration (FAME). Her research interests include metagenomics, algorithms, data science and machine learning.
Vijini completed her PhD at the School of Computing, at the Australian National University and her thesis is focused on algorithms and computational models related to metagenomics binning. During her PhD, she studied how the assembly graph can be incorporated to bin metagenomic contigs and she has developed several metagenomic binning tools including GraphBin and MetaCoAG which are metagenomic binning tools that use assembly graphs.
