Dr Voula Gaganis

Teaching Specialist, Senior Lecturer in Physiology

College of Medicine and Public Health

place Health Sciences (6E:137)
GPO Box 2100, Adelaide 5001, South Australia

I have been a proud member of the Flinders University community since 1998.

I have been fortunate to experience Flinders University across varied roles, initially in research as a PhD student and post-doctoral researcher in Clinical Pharmacology, followed by over a decade teaching in the MD Program as a PBL tutor and lecturer in the Bachelor of Medical Science Degree.

I am Topic Coordinator and contribute to teaching, including the development, implementation and delivery of curricula, in several topics across the Bachelor of Medical Science Degree, primarily in Human Physiology and Skills for Medical Scientists.

I have interests in student wellbeing and academic success and my role includes:

Coordination of the 1st Year Bachelor of Medical Science (BMS) Degree and the Year One BMS Peer-Mentoring Program. One of my passions in teaching is active learning, particularly using innovative teaching techniques, and recently I have introduced a new cloud-based learning technology into our BMS Physiology topics which I am very excited about!

I am an organising/coordinating member of the CMPH Teaching Specialist Community of Practice (CMPH.TSCoP@flinders.edu.au). The TS CoP fosters ongoing interactions between teaching specialist staff across the College, with a focus on enabling and building relationships, collaborative activities, sharing knowledge of our shared practice including repertoire of resources, techniques, trouble-shooting, tools and experiences.

I am Deputy Academic Lead (International) for CMPH. This role includes promoting international relationships with a focus on increasing recruitment of international students to the College, and assisting with activities both on campus and overseas.
