Dr Ying Yu is a Registered Nurse and academic with extensive experience in both China and Australia. Ying’s cross-cultural background informs her commitment to supporting culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) individuals in healthcare settings, both as patients and caregivers.
She holds a PhD in Nursing from Flinders University, where her research focused on a facilitator-enabled virtual iSupport program for carers of people with dementia in the Australian health and aged care context, using a mixed-methods design. Her Master’s research explored the experiences of CALD individuals during critical illness, further emphasising her dedication to inclusive care.
Ying has led and collaborated on multiple national and international research projects, including those funded by the MRFF and NHMRC, and has published extensively in high-impact journals. Her work has earned her numerous accolades, including teaching excellence awards and recognition for outstanding research presentations. Fluent in English and Mandarin, Ying continues to advocate for culturally tailored interventions in dementia care and nursing education.
