Research Fellow (Maritime Autonomy)
College of Science and Engineering
Zachary Cooper-Baldock is a Research Fellow (Maritime Autonomy) within the Center for Defence Engineering, Research and Training (CDERT).
Zachary's research focuses on generative AI (GenAI) for the intelligent prediction of 2D and 3D environments around underwater vehicles. This work involves the development, training, optimisation and deployment of novel machine learning approaches. He has worked as a researcher for Boeing on the development of these technologies, and here at Flinders with Prof. Karl Sammut, A/Prof. Paulo E. Santos and A/Prof. Russell S.A. Brinkworth.
Zachary is a member of the Australian HPC-AI Talent Program (1 of 10), a John Crampton Travelling Scholar and a recipient of the Flinders University Overseas Fellowship. His work has seen close collaboration with the National Computational Infrastructure and the University of Southampton (UK) where he worked to develop physics-informed navigation approaches with Prof. Stephen Turnock.
