Adelaide PHN Health Placement Scholarship

Description

The Adelaide PHN Health Placement Scholarship has been generously funded by Adelaide PHN to support allied health students undertaking professional experience placements (PEP) in metro Adelaide. Adelaide PHN, the local Primary Health Network (PHN) for the Adelaide region, is committed to shaping the health system to deliver better outcomes for vulnerable people and a healthier Adelaide. Ten scholarships will be available.

Benefits

The scholarship will have a value of $3,000, which can be used for transportation, living expenses, and other expenses associated with the placement. It will also provide some compensation for the loss of income.

The scholarship will be paid prior to the commencement of the placement. Students who do not undertake the placement may be required to repay the scholarship.

Eligibility

Applicants for the Scholarship must:

• be enrolled in the second or subsequent year of an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Speech Pathology or Disability and Community Inclusion at Flinders University in metropolitan Adelaide; or
• be in the second year of study in a postgraduate degree in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition and dietetics, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, optometry and audiology; and
• be enrolled in a topic that has a continuous placement component of at least four (4) weeks; and
• have satisfied all the compliance requirements for placement eligibility; and
• be undertaking the placement in the metropolitan Adelaide area as defined by the Metropolitan Adelaide Boundary (Development Act 1993); and
• be undertaking a placement focused on primary health and/or in a primary health setting*; and
• be able to demonstrate financial hardship and/or anticipated financial disadvantage as a result of undertaking a PEP.

Selection Criteria

The scholarship will be awarded based on financial need and academic merit. Preference will be given to South Australia-based applicants.

Scholarship selection will be made in accordance with procedures approved by the Director, Student Administration Services and at the discretion of the selection committee.
