Australian Energy Producers is proud to launch a renewed Education Scholarship Program to support the next generation of energy professionals. This new program replaces the legacy KA Richards and Tony Noon scholarships with a modern, inclusive, and forward-looking framework that reflects the Australian oil and gas industry’s focus on energy security, decarbonisation, and low-emission technologies.

Benefits

• Australian Energy Producers Scholarship
  • Value: $20,000 per annum for up to three years.
  • Includes: Attendance at the Australian Energy Producers Conference & Exhibition in Adelaide, May 2026 (flights, accommodation, and registration included).
• Australian Energy Producers Conference Award
  • One recipient will receive support to attend the Australian Energy Producers Conference & Exhibition in Adelaide, May 2026 (flights, accommodation, and registration included).

Eligibility

• Personal
  • 1 Applicants are required to be 18 years or older
  • 2 Applicants are required to be Australian citizens or permanent residents
• Academic achievements/work experience tenure
  • The opportunities are offered subject to the recipient/s:
  • Attending an Australian university or TAFE-equivalent institution in 2026 and for the duration of the scholarship. They must have either successfully completed at least their first year of their undergraduate degree, or have gained admission into a postgraduate degree.
  • Continuing to be enrolled in an approved program of study, including, but not limited to, undergraduates, postgraduates and doctoral students (Bachelor degree or above, level 5–10 of the Australian Qualifications Framework), for the duration of the scholarship.
  • Successfully completing agreed academic progress checkpoints throughout the duration of the scholarship.

  • Recipients must be preparing for a career in the upstream energy industry.
  • While many careers are grounded in STEM, careers in the sector increasingly span a broader range of fields to meet evolving industry needs.
  • Relevant areas of study include — but are not limited to — science, engineering, technology, mathematics, law, environmental studies, journalism, communications and marketing, business and commerce, stakeholder engagement.

Selection Criteria

1. A clear commitment to pursuing a career in the upstream energy industry.
2. Enrollment in a relevant discipline, including but not limited to science, engineering, technology, mathematics, law, environmental studies, journalism, communications and marketing, business and commerce, stakeholder engagement.
3. Development of hands-on or technical skills through coursework, vocational training, apprenticeships, projects, or industry placements.
4. Evidence of leadership, initiative, teamwork, and problem-solving ability demonstrated through study, training, work, or extracurricular activities.
5. Active involvement with communities, industry, or stakeholders, including collaboration, communication, or outreach.
6. A clear articulation of how the scholarship will support their progression into a role contributing to the upstream energy industry.
7. Evidence of volunteering or community engagement activities.
