Deane O Southgate Scholarship

This scholarship is named in honour of Associate Professor Deane Oakford Southgate AM FRACGP, FACOM, who was the Head of the Department of Primary Care and Community Medicine in the Flinders University School of Medicine until his death in 1991. This scholarship was established to support students who have an interest in pursuing a career in general practice. The value of the scholarship is $5,000 and one scholarship will be available per annum as long as funding permits.

The scholarship is valid for one year and will be paid in two equal instalments of $2,500 after the census date of each semester.

Applicants must:

• be enrolled in the fourth year of the Doctor of Medicine Program at Flinders University; and
• be a permanent resident of South Australia; and
• be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in pursuing a career in general practice
