Description
A full-time, fully funded PhD scholarship opportunity in the field of chemistry/analytical spectroscopy is available in the College of Science and Engineering, Flinders University. The successful candidate will join a motivated research team working on an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded Discovery Project titled “Mechano-driven decomposition of water to hydrogen peroxide and hydrogen” contributing to aspects of the multi-disciplinary project focused on spectroscopic and in situ characterisation of materials during processing. The PhD project will provide opportunities to utilise a range of techniques to understand chemical and physical processes occurring in the vortex fluidic device (VFD) including involvement in the development of in situ experiments. The candidate will have an opportunity to engage and collaborate with experts from within Flinders and across Australian and international universities.
Applicants must have completed an Honours or Masters degree in Chemistry or a related field. Someone with previous training in analytical spectroscopy and associated multivariate analysis/machine learning data analysis approaches is preferred. Applicants must have strong writing and communication abilities and be able to work effectively in a collaborative research team. The PhD scholarship is based at Flinders University under the guidance of Dr Sara Miller (Principal Supervisor) and co-supervised with Prof Colin Raston.
