Dr. Georgina A. Maddox is a teaching specialist in psychology at Flinders University, with expertise in memory and cognition. Her research focuses on interventions that engage known memory enhancers—such as drawing, generation, and elaboration—and their application in both educational and therapeutic contexts. She is particularly interested in how these strategies influence memory accuracy and learning outcomes.
Current projects include investigating the effects of drawing on voluntary memory and intrusions following traumatic events, as well as examining how self-generated versus AI-generated encoding strategies impact learning. She also explores the role of generative AI in higher education, aiming to inform best practices for its use in teaching and learning. Dr. Maddox is a founding member of the Psychology of Applied Cognition and Teaching (PACT) Lab.
