I work in the Flinders University Academy and am the lead teacher for the Diploma of Health (DIPHLTH) program. This is a year long program that prepares incoming international students for direct entry into the second year of a Flinders University bachelor’s degree. This program provides a scaffolded approach to learning, providing support and guidance to help students learn and develop new skills. Where possible, this is done by drawing on real world examples with vocational application.

I have extensive experience in both research and teaching. In my research positions, I have been fortunate to be part of outstanding local and international teams that have examined such things as; chromatin structure and function; sex determination; kidney and eye development and prostate cancer. This work has been published in peer reviewed journal like Nature (1st author), Nature Communications (equal 1st author), Nature Structural Biology (2nd author), Kidney International (equal 1st author), Trends in Cell Biology (senior author), Developmental Cell (co-author) etc.

I have a long standing interest in teaching and learning and have taught at postgraduate, undergraduate, TAFE and high school levels. I enjoy encouraging students to get the best out of themselves to the point where they surprise themselves with their ability.
