I received a PhD in Optometry from the University of Auckland in 2010 and have a research track record in myopia control with soft contact lenses and children’s vision screening. I also hold registration as a therapeutically endorsed optometrist in both Australia and New Zealand. My PhD was the first to show a clinically applicable method of optical defocus could be used to slow myopia progression in children. The novel contact lens evaluated in this work has now been commercialised and is distributed internationally as MiSightTM one-day disposable contact lenses.
