Dr. Omar Smadi is an accomplished healthcare professional with over 23 years of experience as a registered nurse in adult ICUs, both in Australia and overseas. He currently serves as a Lecturer in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, where he brings a wealth of knowledge and practical skills to the academic setting. Dr. Smadi holds a PhD in Nursing from Flinders University in Australia and advanced degrees in Nursing Science from the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia. In addition, he holds a B.Sc in Software Engineering from Philadelphia University in Jordan, which further enhances his expertise in using technology in academic pursuits.
Dr. Smadi's research interests focus on designing and evaluating online and blended nursing courses, utilising the Community of Inquiry Framework as a theoretical framework for his studies. He has conducted several research projects to test the applicability of the CoI framework in online nursing courses in Australia. Dr. Smadi is an active member of the Learning and Teaching Academy in CNHS and serves as a co-facilitator of the Digital Learning Community of Practice, demonstrating his commitment to staying current with the latest trends and innovations in nursing education.
