I have taught in Australian schools for over twenty years. While teaching, I began a Master of Gifted Education and followed this with a Master of Arts by research. I left classroom teaching to concentrate on my studies when I received a PhD scholarship. I was drawn back to teaching in the university context and worked in two universities before becoming a continuing staff member at Flinders University in the School of Education. I am married and have two children.

Teaching interests
I am interested in teaching and learning, with a particular interest in self-directed and self-regulated learning and inquiry. I am also interested in educational psychology, education and its wider context, Middle Schooling, student engagement, wellbeing, giftedness, students with learning difficulties, education and the International Baccalaureate, and making connections between teaching practicum and theoretical issues studied at university.
