Sarah Hylton is a seasoned leader in the mental health and community services sectors, recognised for her authentic leadership and commitment to service excellence. As Practice Manager of the Flinders University Psychology Clinic, she provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality clinical and training services. With a professional background in counselling and psychotherapy, Sarah brings extensive experience in organisational leadership, change management, and stakeholder collaboration to her role.
Before joining Flinders, Sarah was instrumental in developing and implementing one of Australia’s first fully lived experience mental health programs in South Australia—a pioneering initiative where all staff and leaders combined professional expertise with lived experience of mental health challenges. The program’s success was showcased at national conferences, and Sarah received the Mental Health Coalition of South Australia’s Lived Experience Award in 2019 for her leadership and advocacy.
Sarah’s professional interests centre on workforce wellbeing, leadership development, change management, and improving access and quality of mental health service delivery. Deeply committed to destigmatising mental illness and promoting positive mental health practices, she continues to drive innovation and meaningful change across the sector. Sarah is a member of the Australian Institute of For-Purpose Leaders and is currently completing an Executive Master of Business Administration at the University of Adelaide.
