Dr Shaileigh Rowtcliff is a teaching specialist and lecturer in Primary Education.

Shaileigh has worked in educational contexts for over 16 years across many roles including experiences as a primary teacher and ICT coordinator in metropolitan and regional South Australia. In more recent years, she was the principal of a K-12 school in the USA and has prior experience teaching in early childhood and secondary contexts.

Shaileigh completed both her bachelor’s degree and her PhD at Flinders University, where her PhD thesis and research focussed on attitudes, beliefs, and emotions in primary mathematics education, also known as the affective domain.

Shaileigh is enthusiastic about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education (STEM), as well as taking learning outside the classroom through situated learning approaches and pedagogies. Her current scholarship of teaching research focuses on exploring the role of situated learning (at the zoo) and professional learning experiences for pre-service teachers to develop STEM thinking. She has a special interest in supporting teachers to use digital technologies creatively whilst developing and maintaining positive attitudes and beliefs throughout the learning process.
