Description
Seeking an outstanding candidate for a fully funded PhD scholarship at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute, working on a collaborative project with Flinders University, the Marine Bioproducts Cooperative Research Centre, and Marinova Pty Ltd. The project will investigate the effects of various types of fucoidans, natural compounds, on triple-negative breast cancer. Using state-of-the-art cellular models and experimental techniques, the candidate will employ molecular biology methods to elucidate the potential therapeutic effects of fucoidans in this type of breast cancer.
The PhD will provide the candidate with unique skills in molecular biology, cell culture, statistical techniques, and knowledge translation. It will also provide skill development in conducting research with commercial potential, as well as unique opportunities for industry placement during the candidature. Candidates with backgrounds in molecular biology, pharmacology, natural products, and industry research are encouraged to apply.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Arduino Mangoni and Dr. Jai Meyers at the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute, College of Medicine and Public Health. The successful candidate must be able to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, when working with staff, students, and collaborators.
