The Riverland is home to Flinders University’s undergraduate nursing degree and the first Parallel Rural Community Curriculum (PRCC) program run by Flinders Rural Health SA.
The College of Nursing & Health Science campus at Renmark offers the unique opportunity to study a full three-year nursing degree while living and working in a vibrant, diverse, rural community. The program has an identical structure to the degree run in Adelaide, including access to a state-of-the-art clinical skills laboratory.
Third year Doctor of Medicine (MD) students undertake the 12-month PRCC program based in medical practices in Barmera, Berri, Loxton, Renmark and Waikerie. The Riverland PRCC was established in 1997 as the first full-year rural placement of the Flinders medical program.
Each year, more than 200 additional Flinders nursing, allied health and fourth-year medical students visit the Riverland to undertake shorter clinical placements at hospital and health services throughout the region.
