FACILITY

The Flinders CMPH Cell Culture Facilities are shared use laboratories that provide access to a range of equipment. Researchers utilise equipment in the facilities to perform their own mammalian cell culture experiments.

The facility supports staff and students by maintaining the cell culture facilities, equipment, and sterile conditions. The facility also provides basic induction training and performs periodic mycoplasma testing.

The Cell Culture Facilities are in three different laboratories and work in each facility is segregated based on activity:

Primary Cell Culture (3D210)

For work requiring no physical containment
Development of primary cell lines from tissue biopsies or other samples
Culturing and maintenance of primary cells for further experiments
Processing of biological samples (e.g. blood, urine, faeces)

Cell Line Culture (3E111)

For work requiring no physical containment
Culturing and maintenance of established cell lines for further experiments

Cytotoxic Cell Culture (6D316)

For work requiring physical containment level 2 (PC2)
Culturing and maintenance of established cell lines under PC2 conditions
For experiments requiring cytotoxic chemicals or viruses that require PC2 conditions
