Associate Academic Language and Learning (ALL) Teaching Specialist Academic
Learning and Teaching Innovation
Jane's teaching within Learning and Teaching Innovation focuses on supporting all students to become successful independent learners. Her specific area of interest is working with students as they undertake the academic and cultural transition into a tertiary environment. Her collaborative teaching approach emphasises blended, flexible and active learning methods.
She has previously coordinated the domestic Flinders Foundation Studies Program, working closely with students as they begin their academic journey. She is passionate about access, equity, and fostering a sense of belonging in students through the deconstruction of socially and culturally situated academic literacies. Jane has also coordinated the Introductory Academic Program for Australia Award students and the International Foundation Studies Program in the Flinders University Academy. She is currently coordinating the Military Academic Pathway Program.
Jane’s scholarship interests include transition pedagogy, enabling education, assessment and feedback literacy, and decolonising education. She is also currently a doctoral student at Griffith University exploring what a decolonising approach to the teaching of academic literacies within higher education might look like.
