Dr Nada Ibrahim is a Criminologist/Counsellor specializing in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and Faith-based Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) at Flinders University. She is also an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of South Australia.

Nada’s DFV research and publications centers around CALD and Muslim communities exploring its extent, harmful attitudes/beliefs, risk factors, gender drivers, victims’ experiences with Australian criminal justice system, children’s experiences of DFV, mental health impacts on DFV, forced/arranged marriages, child abuse in Muslim communities, among others.

Nada recently completed research with colleagues from Flinders University on Arranged and Forced Marriages in multicultural communities that produced an associated social media YouTube video Arranged Marriage and Forced Marriage in SA CALD Communities.

Nada has also assisted in research on child abuse and neglect in Aboriginal communities, international child sexual abuse medical reviews, harmful sexual behaviours, and exploratory research in child abuse and neglect in Australian Muslim communities.

Nada has in the past taught and coordinated various courses in Psychology at the University of South Australia, Criminology and Humanities courses at Griffith University, and Psychology course at the International Islamic Unviersity Malaysia.

Nada has co-designed two signature DFV programs for the prevention of, and recovery from DFV targeted at survivors, Imams/community leaders and wider community. The DFV Upskilling for Imams & Community Leaders intensive training has been offered multiple times in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide with great success since 2018. The 13-weeks inspiredNAFSi Personal Leadership Healing Program has been offered multiple times in Brisbane and Melbourne since 2016.

Nada was awarded for her DFV work such as Queensland Domestic Violence Prevention Honour Roll and was a finalist “Women’s Empowerment” category 2020 WomenAcknowledgingWomen Award and International Islamic University Malaysia Alumni Community Engagement Award 2022.
