Campus safety and security

Campus safety is a priority for us. Security Officers are available 24-hours a day. Phones are located throughout the campus and the security number (08 8201 2880) is listed on ID cards.

If you ever feel unsafe on campus, contact the Security Office. In an emergency, call 000 for fire, police, and ambulance.

Work health and safety

Our Work Health and Safety team provides a number of services, tools and supports. Learn more about the work health and safety and responsibilities here, and the ways the WHS team supports your wellbeing.

There are also Health and Safety Representatives (HSR’s) who are elected members that represent their area on work health and safety matters. Flinders encourages HSR’s to become members of their relevant college/portfolio Health and Safety Committee.

Flinders recognises the importance of psychosocial safety and is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment. We have a range of proactive approaches embedded into our work practices that support psychosocial wellbeing. This includes training, and Work Health and Safety support.

Employee assistance program

The health and safety of our people is a priority. Which is why we offer access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Staff can connect with trained clinicians through this program for a variety of reasons including personal, and professional. This free service is a great way to look after yourself.

Manager assist program

We also offer the Manager Assist Program (MAP) which provides confidential support to managers, offering guidance on personal and interpersonal situations in staff performance, work relationships and organisational change. This program operates in parallel to the support provided through People and Culture, assisting supervisors to navigate the complexities of management.
