Our inaugural Science and Engineering Alumni Shadow Initiation Challenge at the SA Museum on 22 November was a huge success.
A score update for the night resulted in a change in the overall placings, with ‘Mummy and the Puzzlers’ tying with ‘The Misfits’ for second place. This last-minute update to the scoreboard saw them tie on 990 points and finish in an impressive 54 minutes — well done team!
The evening concluded with drinks and nibbles, with competitors switching to friend-mode, sharing their game strategies, and forming new connections.
An enormous thanks to our wonderful Science and Engineering STEM Alumni Steering Group who were appointed earlier this year. Part of the Steering Group’s role is to actively increase awareness and involvement of Science and Engineering Alumni in events and activities and to assist in the development of our college programs and initiatives.
In our early discussions about an end of year event, suggestions from the Steering Group included an ‘activity based’ event, or a ‘team event’ to encourage alumni to attend with colleagues from their cohort. The decision was ‘The Shadow Initiation’, and we think it worked out well! …Now to think of something for next year…
