Meet our Vice-Chancellor Scholarship Recipients.

Hello, my name is Ngoc Thuc Nhi (Mary) from Vietnam, and I’m studying a Bachelor of Business (Marketing).

I am driven by the desire to make a meaningful impact through transparent and genuine connections. Leading marketing campaigns for fundraising and community-driven initiatives at a nonprofit has helped me realise the influence of marketing in shaping perception and creating profound changes.

I’ve learned that when marketing is built on transparency, it can foster trust, shape perception with integrity, and inspire positive impact.

The Flinders Vice Chancellor Scholarship will offer me opportunities to turn this motivation into action. It will accelerate my academic journey through affirming my achievements and strengthening my confidence in working towards my goals, reminding me that my efforts matter and empowering me to promote transparency in marketing as a means to give back to the community that has shaped

What appeals about studying in Adelaide?

After studying in Adelaide for a semester, I’ve been in love with the harmony of the city’s nature, architecture, and lifestyle. Adelaide is leafy and close to nature, blending well with its charming and classic architecture, creating a unique beauty for the city. This city also embraces me with its tranquillity yet vibrant everyday life, and with how supportive and welcoming the atmosphere is.

What’s your favourite subject or project that you are currently working on?

At the moment, I’m really enjoying my marketing studies, especially the Social Media Marketing topic, where I’m able to work with a real client on a project to develop marketing strategies for their business. This gives me hands-on experience and valuable insights into the industry. I love exploring social media insights, learning to understand the audience, and figuring out strategies that can create real impact for the client’s online presence.

Do you have any pets?

I currently do not have one, but I will definitely get a Golden Retriever if I have a chance.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

If I were to choose a superpower, it would be emotional resonance. It is the ability to truly feel and understand people’s emotions and perspectives, creating genuine connections and amplifying voices. It’s about seeing things in their full context and communicating in a way that truly moves people.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I've always been passionate about fashion. When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer. Currently, as I aspire to learn and thrive in the marketing field, I’m aiming to build my career as a marketer in the fashion industry.
