Meet our Vice-Chancellor Scholarship Recipients.

Hello, my name is Pin-Chi (Nicky) from Taiwan, and I’m studying Master of Occupational Therapy.

I am driven by open-mindedness and inspired by creative perspectives. I believe the world is not only just black and white and want to be a more inclusive person. I hope to connect with others and gain a much deeper understanding of how this amazing world works.

My biggest motivation in life is curiosity, which drives my desire to explore and connect with Flinders and Adelaide. By easing the financial burden, the VC Scholarship gives me the time and opportunity to actively engage with my new community and focus on my academic goals. It empowers me to fully embrace my journey as an international student.

What’s your favourite subject or project that you are currently working on?

Currently, my favorite assignment requires us to evaluate ourselves as if we were clients navigating life with an impairment. It is a fascinating exercise that has completely shifted how I view accessibility and daily challenges. Learning to genuinely think from the client's perspective is such a valuable takeaway for my future career!

What appeals about studying in Adelaide?

I am really drawn to Adelaide because of the deep, profound connection its community has with nature. Studying in a place that values the outdoors so highly sounds peaceful to me. It is the ideal place to balance my academic work with a healthy, relaxed lifestyle.

What would be your super hero power and why?

It would absolutely be teleportation! I have a huge passion for traveling and exploring the world, but I really don't enjoy the actual process of flying. Skipping the airport and popping up wherever I want to go would be excellent.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like doing yoga. It helps me slow down and be present to feel my body.

Do you have any pets? If yes, name, breed and what you love about them?

My cat is Tiff. What I love most about her is how she naturally lives in the present and expresses her feelings without a single second thought. Watching her just boldly be herself reminds me to stop overthinking and worry less about other people's opinions.
