Privacy Collection Notice

By completing, submitting or entering your details into the webpage, online form or online portal which has linked to this Privacy Collection Notice, or completing a hardcopy form or flyer which references  this Privacy Collection Notice, you acknowledge that we will directly collect the information provided, submitted or entered into that webpage, online form, online portal or hardcopy form or flyer as the case may be.

Your information is being collected for a lawful purpose, being the provision by the Alumni & Advancement team of alumni, advancement and other related support and administrative services (which is in pursuit of the legitimate interests of Flinders University) to you including:

• to inform you of opportunities to engage with and support Flinders University as a graduate of Flinders University;
• to inform general business analysis, quality assurance, reporting and planning activities;
• to tailor and personalise Flinders University communications about events, alumni benefits, donor relations and fundraising activities to you;
• to process any donation provided by you (if applicable) and to provide further communications and updates to you regarding the administration or ongoing use of your donation (if applicable); and
• to fulfil and monitor our responsibilities to comply with legislative reporting requirements and any applicable laws.

Without your personal information, it may not be possible for us to process your particular request (including to process or administer any donation made by you), keep in touch with you, or verify your eligibility for, or make available to you, alumni benefits and discounts, or provide you with the full range of services that may be available to you.

We understand how important it is to keep your information confidential and private and will only disclose your personal information to third parties or other Flinders staff in the circumstances including but not limited to:

• where we are required to disclose the information by law;
• where disclosure is warranted in order to prevent an imminent threat to your health or safety, or the health or safety of another person;
• where the disclosure is requested by authorities in connection with a criminal investigation;
• contracted service providers or partners engaged by us to perform legitimate functions on our behalf, such as those outlined in this privacy collection notice or our Privacy Policy;
• third parties engaged by us to provide alumni, supporter and fundraising related services, such as banks, event venue providers, caterers, mailing houses, logistics, IT service providers, and social media platforms;
• your nominated financial institution and government departments such as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) (where you make a donation); or
• As otherwise permitted under our Privacy Policy.

Where your information is shared with third parties it will be done only to the extent necessary to fulfil the purpose of the disclosure with all reasonable steps to be taken to ensure the recipient does not breach the Privacy Act and our Privacy Policy.

In some instances, your personal information may be transferred outside of Australia, such as where we use digital data storage providers in overseas countries or use a cloud-based system with servers based in international jurisdictions, as set out in our Privacy Policy. We have agreements with these digital data storage providers to ensure the protection of personal information they hold.
