On Friday 19 September 2025, Flinders University proudly celebrated 50 years of our impressive speech pathology program, the first of its kind to be offered in South Australia.
The milestone was marked by a spectacular event at Adelaide Town Hall, attended by alumni, staff and industry partners.
Flinders University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Stirling highlighted the profound impact of the Flinders Speech Pathology Program, and paid tribute to the inaugural staff and graduating class as well as notable alumni who have made significant contributions to the field.
Keynote Speaker Rosalie Martin, 2017 Tasmanian of the Year and Flinders alumna recalled her days as a student and reflected on the positive impact Flinders had on her career path.
Guests also heard from Emma Connell, Clinical Lead Speech Pathologist at Autism SA (Major Partner) who spoke of the evolution in Speech Pathology over the years and the importance of connection, dignity, and authenticity in the profession.
