Flinders University has evolved its courses to enhance our student experience from initial exploration through to graduation.
From 2026, many Flinders undergraduate courses will adopt one of three standardised structures: Modular, Prescribed, or Diversified. These changes are designed to improve clarity, consistency, and flexibility across degrees, making it easier for students to understand their options and for agents to advise on pathways.
See our glossary for further clarification on these terms.
The following undergraduate degrees will be modular:
No. Students who commenced before 2026 will continue under the course rules and structure that applied when they started. The new structures apply only to new undergraduate students commencing from 2026 onwards.
When communicating with students and parents, emphasise the flexibility, clarity, and global recognition of Flinders’ new course structures. Use the updated course web pages and this FAQ to guide your conversations.
No. All courses continue to meet relevant professional standards and accreditations. The new structures may even allow students to complete double majors, potentially meeting requirements for multiple accreditations.
Employers and graduate schools focus on the academic transcript, which details all completed majors, minors, and specialisations. Flinders degrees remain professionally accredited and internationally recognised.
No. Skills assessments are based on the actual content of the course, including completed topics, majors, and specialisations, not just the course title. Students should keep records such as transcripts and course outlines for assessment purposes.
Articulation and credit transfer arrangements will continue under the new structures. We are working with partner institutions to ensure alignment. Partners can review the updated Course Handbook and contact the University for support.
Offers will be issued to the new course structure for applicants who have chosen a course with changes. This will be confirmed in the offer letter as these are processed.
Offer letters will be reissued in the coming weeks and agents will need to ensure acceptances are confirmed again if this is required. Most course changes should not mean a CoE needs to be reissued but this will be on a case-by-case basis and this information will be provided in the offer letter in the coming weeks.
Some courses and specialisations you normally expect to see listed for application may no longer appear in the search functionality as previously, but this does not mean the course, specialisation or major is not available for application.
