There’s nothing like getting a taste of uni life at Flinders in person. Our Bedford Park campus is amazing, with incredible views right down to the coast, native vegetation (keep an eye out for koalas and kookaburras) and an incredible range of spaces and places for students to study and chill. At our city campus, you’re right in the heart of the action and in a vertical campus like no other. Our Tonsley campus is surrounded by industry partners and is in a precinct with an amazing urban industrial vibe.
Open Days is your chance to really find out what your next few years will be like. The campus buzz is an important part of your study experience. Flinders Bedford Park campus is designed for living, with food and retail outlets, sport and fitness facilities and heaps more. At our city campus, you have all the CBD on your doorstep, and the Tonsley campus sits next to some awesome food outlets and recreational spaces.
Open Days are all about giving you the opportunity to explore the campus, better understand your study choices, speak to staff and current students and get an idea of how uni works. There are all sorts of demonstrations, information sessions and displays. It’s a lot of fun.
At Flinders, we go all out to make your Open Days experience unforgettable. Our events people have been going non-stop (except for a suspiciously high number of coffee and donut breaks), the gardeners have been clipping individual grass strands with tiny shears, and Laura from Marketing has been sprinting around the Bedford Park lake trying to polish the ducks’ beaks.
True story. Almost.
The big question of course, is whether or not you’re ready? If not, don’t panic, here are our top four tips to help you have a sensational Open Day experience.
There’s so much to see and do on each of our campuses, it’s easy to be overwhelmed if you’re not prepared. If you haven’t already, make sure you head to our Open Days page to register, and to see all the activities available. Our interactive Open Days planner makes it easy to make the most of your time on campus. A few quick clicks let you add all the info sessions, tours and activities you’re interested in seeing.
Open Days is super busy, and we have capacity limits on sessions and activities, so make sure you arrive 15 minutes before starting time to grab a comfy spot.
You won’t miss any of the important sessions you want to catch, and you’ll be able to schedule enough time to grab a bite and check out some shiny duck beaks.
Ok, no. Don’t do that. But do ask them questions. They’re on campus to help you make the most of your day. Ask for directions, ask about courses, ask how good the campus facilities are, or the Tav burgers at Bedford Park. It’s up to you. We also have lots of current students on hand who can give you some great insights into day-to-day life at Flinders.
Flinders Open Days are your opportunity to get to know the university, so please ask as many questions as you like. Of course, if you forget to ask something, don’t stress. Flinders Connect and Ask Flinders are always on hand to help out.
How cool would that be? You could make your clone line up for a burger while you… uhh… sorry. Getting slightly off track. Assuming you don’t have a clone, consider bringing someone along with you on the day. Not to line up for burgers, but to give you a second opinion, to ask the questions you might miss and to remember any details that may have slipped past you.
It could be a parent or carer, a friend from school who’s also considering study at Flinders, or just someone you trust. Your Open Days experience should be informative and fun, so why not share it with someone special?
Open Days are BIG days, particularly at Bedford Park, so remember the basics. Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather, get an early start if you want a park (we have stacks of free parking spaces at Bedford Park on both Friday and Saturday, but we do get busy) or take public transport. Remember your Open Days planner. Don’t forget to charge your phone (although we will have charging stations on campus). Bring a snack or a drink or both (a snink?). Tag @flindersuniversity when you take a million selfies. Take a million selfies. Follow Flinders’ Insta, Facebook and TikTok accounts.
Get excited! Be fearless. Open Days are here!
We offer one-on-one appointments with our prospective student team to discuss career options, pathways, and course and entry requirements.
