Azra is a Ngarrindjeri, Narungga, and Kaurna scholar and educator deeply committed to Indigenous research, education, and methodologies. With over a decade of experience in Indigenous education and community engagement across the public sector, her work centres Ngarrindjeri ways of being, doing, and knowing - particularly within classroom contexts through a focus on relationality.
As a leader within the First Nations Researchers Collective, Azra’s research challenges settler-colonial education systems by foregrounding Indigenous epistemologies.

Professor Gretchen Geng
Professor Gretchen Geng leads as Professor in Innovative Education Futures at Flinders University. She brings over a decade of senior leadership in higher education - at Australian Catholic University, RMIT, Beijing Foreign Studies University and more - and a deep international reputation for work on digital play, XR learning, and early childhood innovation. Her “Playful Reading” framework has already supported tens of thousands of teachers across Southeast Asia and reflects her commitment to transforming learning through technology, creativity and inclusion.

Associate Professor Joss Rankin
Associate Professor Joss Rankin leads the Education programs at Flinders University. Drawing on his experience teaching in schools across South Australia and the UK, Joss brings hands-on expertise and a passion for learning in natural environments.
Joss is committed to meaningful, student-centred learning and is actively involved in education and outdoor networks, helping shape future educators through real-world, engaging experiences.
Practical learning is embedded throughout the course through applied assessment, critical reflection, and engagement with Indigenous perspectives and methodologies. Students draw on their professional contexts to develop culturally responsive initiatives aligned with community priorities and ethical practice.
There are no formal placement requirements for this course. Students may be required to engage with professional or community contexts relevant to their role and assessments. Additional checks (such as police or health clearances) are not mandatory unless required by an individual student’s workplace.
Applicants must normally hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Education, Teaching or a closely related discipline from an approved tertiary institution.
However, the Dean (Education) may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.
