With a five month old baby, flexibility was essential. Jasmine appreciated being able to study at times that suited her life, whether that was late at night, early in the morning or while her son was sleeping. She also valued how understanding staff were of her needs as a new mother.

Returning to study after time away was daunting. Jasmine had finished school a few years earlier and found that university level learning was a completely different experience. She quickly realised how important Foundation Studies was in helping her understand what was expected.

“The most valuable takeaway was learning the expectations of the work, the way you do it and the way it is submitted. It was a learning curve, but it set me up for what comes next.”

She also felt supported throughout the course, especially with online learning.

“With everything being online, we were able to receive great feedback and everything we needed to feel supported.”

For Jasmine, Foundation Studies made changing careers feel possible and achievable.

“If you are considering a career change, it is definitely doable. I have come from agriculture and now I am going into midwifery. It is definitely the most achievable way to do it.”

Looking back on how far she has come, Jasmine feels proud of the future she is building.

“I definitely would not have thought I would end up where I am now. I am going into a pathway that I love and have wanted for a long time.”
