Applications are now open for the Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship.
To secure an offer, successful applicants must meet the academic eligibility requirements and employment requirements of the Degree Apprenticeship.
Degree apprenticeship programs are only available to domestic students (Australian citizens, permanent residents, and New Zealand citizens), and defence-related work is exclusive to Australian citizens.
Admission to a Degree Apprenticeship is subject to selection by an employer partner and passing industry-required employment checks. Defence employer partners require to obtain and maintain a National Police Clearance, an Australian Department of Defence security clearance, and meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements.
Employment is dependent on securing and keeping these clearances. To assess eligibility to work in the defence industry, please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website. Non-defence employer partners processes may differ.
Applicants can apply for this course using the following qualifications: Year 12 results (ATAR 75), the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT), TAFE/VET qualifications, Flinders Foundation Studies or Higher Education transfer. For further information regarding academic requirements see Admissions Pathways.
Applicants will need to meet the subject prerequisite of SACE Stage 2 Specialist Mathematics or Mathematical Methods (or equivalent). Knowledge of SACE Stage 2 Physics or equivalent is assumed.
If you do not have a current SATAC application, please email your Year 12 results to askflinders@flinders.edu.au once available.
Applicants are required to provide official academic transcripts from all study undertaken to support your application. Please upload your documents to your application or email them to askflinders@flinders.edu.au. If your Official Academic Transcripts are in a language other than English, applicants must submit scanned copies of both the original transcript and full translations in English.
*Due to industry-based nature of the programs, applicants with prior studies in Engineering may not be eligible for admission.
