The topic examines current trends in quality, safety, and clinical risk management in the wider context of the international quality and safety movement in health care.
In particular, it explores the history of the quality and safety movement in health, the drivers for the formalisation of clinical governance principles, regulation and activity, and explores contemporary approaches to quality and safety management in health and aged care organisations.
You will apply theory to clinical and management problems, use quality and risk management tools and techniques, and reflect critically on your own practice as a manager.

There is a required written assessment, and participation is expected by all.
This short course has been recognised and endorsed by Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACSHM) for 30 Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Points. You will also be awarded an official grade, which you may be able to use as a credit when applying for Flinders University Courses.
This course will be delivered by Matthew Wood. Matt brings extensive experience into the topic from various appointments including Safety, Quality, and Risk Consultant Northern Adelaide Health Network (NALHN), Safety and Quality Unity Department of Health, Risk Manager for the New Women's and Children's Hospital Project, Risk Manager for the New Royal Adelaide Hospital and Senior Program Manager in the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist, Safety and Quality Unit.
Matt is a graduate of the Master of Health Service Management Flinders University and is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management. Matt will be supported by guest speakers who bring relevant and current industry expertise.
Matt is also the topic Coordinator for Health and Aged Care Operations Management, Flinders University.
