Who should attend?

This topic addresses the strategic leadership roles, expectations and tasks of senior and developing managers in health and aged care.

Students undertake practical exercises, and participate in detailed analysis and discussion of strategic thinking, strategic planning, ethical leadership and strategic management, including marketing and implementation in health and aged care.

The topic also explores the principles of corporate governance and leading strategic transformational change processes.

What you will study

Learning outcomes

Upon completion, you will be able to:

Evaluate the roles and importance of leadership and strategy in the public and private sectors, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans
Determine effective application of methods and tools of strategic management and effective processes for leading transformational change in health and aged care
Integrate the principles of corporate governance with the responsibilities of senior management
Evaluate the strategic challenges leaders face and the role organisations play in the health and aged care system

Assessment

There is a required written assessment, and participation is expected by all.

Credit

This short course has been recognised and endorsed by Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACSHM) for 30 Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Points. You will also be awarded an official grade, which you may be able to use as a credit when applying for Flinders University Courses.
