The postgraduate paediatric nursing program aims to facilitate the development of specialised knowledge, skills and attributes for application in paediatric nursing environments.
It will explore the key concepts related to working with children and their families including keeping children safe, growth and development, attachment theories, and engaging with infants, children and families.
The socioeconomic, physiological and psychosocial issues facing the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families in contemporary society will be addressed.

Our courses will give registered nurses the opportunity to provide skilful care to individuals, families and communities to prevent illness, promote healthy lifestyles and manage a range of emerging complex health issues. You will be able to take on leadership and specialised care roles in a variety of clinical nursing settings.
A nursing career could encompass: schools, scientific research, home health services, rehabilitation, extended care, drug and alcohol services, family and child health, and public environmental health.

The Graduate Certificate in Acute Care Nursing (Paediatrics) consists of 18 units of core topics, including theory-based topics and professional experience placements (PEP) topics. It is designed to provide you with the opportunity to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in paediatrics nursing, and to apply these in a range of healthcare environments.
The Graduate Diploma in Nursing (Paediatrics) consists of 36 units, including a 4.5-unit topic that introduces you to research. It is designed to provide you with the opportunity to deepen your clinical and theoretical knowledge base in paediatrics nursing at a leadership and advanced communication level within your workplace and practice.
The Master of Nursing (Paediatrics) will provide you with the opportunity to further develop your advanced, specialised theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in paediatrics nursing, and apply them in a range of situations. The course aims to enable you to contribute to the development of nursing and healthcare in your chosen field.
Students in all programs are required to undertake professional experience placement during their program of study. To achieve the professional experience placement, you must be employed in an acute paediatric setting. Certain statutory and other requirements must be met before any student is permitted to attend placement. View more details.
You must make a self-declaration as to your fitness to practise and advise of any pre-existing illness or disability that may impair your ability to practise. You will also be required to undergo a police check before your placements.
Students who are required to complete placements as part of their course must be immunised in accordance with the relevant state or territory immunisation standards and any additional private provider requirements as needed.
Applicants for the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma also need to provide a completed and signed Professional Experience Placement Support form (DOCX).
