If you’re in Year 12, uniTEST is available to enhance your chances of getting into Flinders.
We will select students based on their Year 12 results (60% weighting toward the ATAR selection rank) and uniTEST results (40%). Flinders will also consider applicants based on their uniTEST results (100%) as a standalone entry score (subject to SACE completion and any course pre-requisites or specific admissions requirements). If you take the test and don’t do so well, don’t worry, we will only consider your highest selection rank.
uniTEST results can be used for entry to all undergraduate Flinders courses except the Bachelor of Clinical Sciences/Doctor of Medicine. Note: you still need to apply for your course via SATAC.
uniTEST is open to any current Year 12 student who will complete an Australian Year 12 qualification this year. This includes international onshore Year 12 students.
uniTEST is an online test that occurs under exam conditions. There are two options available to you:
Testing will take place between June and November with your school able to nominate a preferred date and time.
Ask your Year 12 coordinator or careers coordinator if your school offers the test. Alternatively, email unitest@flinders.edu.au
For further details please contact us at unitest@flinders.edu.au.
Your answers are submitted to the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) who mark the test on behalf of Flinders University.
You will receive your results from ACER in early to mid-December, around the same time as Year 12 results are released. You are able to use your uniTEST results for two years after sitting the test. If you’re unsure whether your previous uniTEST results apply for admission, please contact us.
After you get your results you don’t need to do anything. We will calculate and use your combined score. If your performance enhances your entry application, your offer for Flinders will come via SATAC.
You will receive a scale score out of 100 for each of the 3 sections in the test and a total scale score. Scores are scaled to take into consideration year-to-year differences in test difficulty. You will also get a percentile rank score that indicates how you performed against all other uniTEST candidates who sat the test in the same year.
uniTEST is an exam style test and is not based on any curriculum or subject areas; therefore you do not need any special knowledge. The purpose of uniTEST is to assess the generic reasoning and thinking skills that underpin higher education studies. uniTEST is administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER).
The maximum time allowed for the test is 2.5 hours.
There is no cost to sit uniTEST.
No preparation is required but you can view sample questions (PDF).
uniTEST is a 95 item, multiple choice exam that measures the following skills in 3 core components (each of 30 items):
The additional 5 items are trial items.
