What does a career in Sports Management look like?

Imagine turning your passion for sport into a career. Fancy yourself as a talent agent? You'll spend your days searching for tomorrow's sporting stars. As a player agent, you'll prepare and negotiate player's contracts and provide legal and financial advice. You'd likely have a double degree, bringing your knowledge of Law, Finance and Sports Management into the mix.

Associate Lecturer, College of Business, Government and Law: Daniel Padovan

Daniel Padovan holds a Bachelor of Management Honours, a Double Degree (Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Marketing) and a PhD in Management currently under final examination.

As Coordinator for the Bachelor of Business (Sports Management), Daniel is also involved in the delivery of the Diploma in Sports Management, exclusively housed in the Port Adelaide Institute of Sport at Alberton Oval.

With a blend of academic qualifications in Business and International Studies, alongside extensive corporate business and lecturing experience spanning two decades, Alicia Mitton’s wealth of expertise places her in an advantageous position to collaborate with industry partners in crafting effective Work Integrated Learning programs.

Alicia adeptly balances the capabilities of industry partners with high-quality learning opportunities for students, fostering a mutually beneficial relationship between academia and the professional sporting world.

Lecturer, College of Business, Government and Law: Dr Rubi Cury

Dr. Rubi Cury is a former judo athlete who transitioned to academia, specialising in sustainability matters in sport. Holding a Ph.D. in environmental sustainability and sports policy, Dr. Rubi has accumulated over 12 years of experience studying and working in the sports industry and has been directing her research efforts to projects that support the sports industry transition to more sustainable operations.

She has been teaching sports management courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with a record of publications in reputable journals within the field.
