Ask Flinders

Who is the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) - General Entry course for? keyboard_arrow_up

It’s for students who want to study engineering but didn’t take Physics or Mathematical Methods in Year 12.

Can I still become a fully qualified engineer? keyboard_arrow_up

Yes! After completing your foundation year, you’ll move into an Engineers Australia–accredited stream and graduate with a standard Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).

Will I be behind compared to other students? keyboard_arrow_up

Not at all. You’ll build your skills step by step, with support and guidance throughout. Many students take this pathway and go on to thrive in their chosen stream.

Can I choose any engineering stream later? keyboard_arrow_up

Yes—you’ll be able to move into the specialisation that suits your interests and goals once you complete the first year.

Will I still do a placement and honours project? keyboard_arrow_up

Absolutely. Your placement and final-year project will happen once you’re in your specialised stream.

Do I have to pick my stream straight away? keyboard_arrow_up

No—you’ll decide that after successfully completing the foundation year.
