Professor Patrick Hesp
Patrick is a world-leading coastal geomorphologist with a career that spans over four decades and five continents. He has worked on beaches, dunes and desert systems across the globe, exploring how wind, vegetation and climate shape coastal landscapes.
Currently Head of Environmental Science at Flinders, Patrick brings extraordinary international experience to the classroom. His research helps us understand and protect dynamic environments - especially in the face of climate change - and he’s passionate about equipping students with the skills to tackle real-world environmental challenges.
Professor Huade Guan
Huade is a leading hydrologist whose research explores how water moves through soil, plants, air and groundwater. He heads the EcoH2OMe research group at Flinders, focusing on how ecosystems, climate and urban environments interact through the water cycle.
As a Chief Investigator with the National Centre for Groundwater Research and Training, Huade’s work helps solve big environmental challenges like extreme heat, water scarcity and ecosystem decline. He teaches core environmental science topics in hydrology and ecohydrology and is dedicated to training future scientists to manage water resources in a changing world.

Strong results in your Research Project B subject along with your Year 12 results can be considered for entry.
By using three of your best Year 12 grades, you can also gain a place in your course of choice.

If you’re studying at another university, you may be able to transfer to Flinders based on your Yr 12 results, current GPA or other factors.

Once you have received your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) letter from Flinders University, you should apply for your visa as soon as possible as visa processing times can vary. You will receive your CoE letter after you have applied to study at Flinders, accepted your offer and paid the semester tuition fee.

Yes. As a student visa (subclass 500) holder, you and your dependents (family members) can work up to 48 hours a fortnight when your course of study is in session. If you have started a master degree by research or doctoral degree, this rule does not apply to you and working hours are not restricted.
