This intensive one-year program builds on your undergraduate studies through in-depth exploration of contemporary psychology, research methods and data analysis.
You’ll work closely with experienced academics to complete an independent honours thesis, developing strong critical thinking, problem-solving and research skills. With a focus on real-world applications and evidence-based practice, the course prepares you for further postgraduate study in psychology or a wide range of professional pathways where understanding human behaviour is essential.
In this 36-unit honours course, you will complete advanced coursework to strengthen your psychological research skills and develop some pre-professional skills in assessment, intervention and counselling. Alongside coursework, you will undertake an independent scholarly research project under the supervision of experienced researchers. Your research will be submitted as an honours thesis, prepared to academic standards, and supported by opportunities to present and discuss your work through seminars and presentations..

Applicants must have completed (normally within the last ten years) or be in the final year of an APAC accredited 3‐year undergraduate sequence in Psychology at the time of application.
Applicants are also required to have passed a minimum of one semester of full‐time equivalent study in second year Psychology topics and one semester of full‐time equivalent study in third year Psychology topics (the equivalent to 50% of a full‐time academic load at each year level). All applicants must have also passed PSYC3007 Research Methods 3 (or its third‐year level equivalent at another university).
Applicants with a Flinders equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) of less than 5.25 in all second and third year Psychology topic attempts will not be considered for a place in Honours. A Flinders equivalent GPA of 5.25 is equivalent to 75% Credit and 25% Distinction grades. Normally, a higher GPA is required.

Monday 8 February 2027: Teaching commences with an Honours meeting (attendance is compulsory). Students must be available on this date to attend Supervisor Topic Presentations and Interviews to determine their thesis supervisor.
