A heritage manager is responsible for preserving, protecting, and promoting cultural heritage sites, artifacts and traditions. They manage historical sites, coordinate conservation projects, and ensure compliance with legal and environmental regulations. Heritage managers work with local communities, historians and government agencies to develop educational programs and sustainable tourism strategies. Their role combines project management, research and public engagement to ensure heritage is accessible and valued for future generations.
A heritage consultant for mine sites assesses and manages the cultural and historical significance of areas affected by mining activities. They conduct site surveys, consult with Indigenous communities and ensure compliance with heritage legislation. Their work helps identify and protect archaeological, historical and cultural heritage values, often preparing reports and recommendations to guide mining operations. By balancing development with preservation, they play a key role in responsible resource extraction.

Claire Smith
Claire Smith is an anthropological archaeologist whose research focusses on how Indigenous knowledges can enrich archaeological theory, method and practice. Claire's deep research into Aboriginal ways of being, knowing and doing is based on long-term relationships of trust. She has worked with Aboriginal people in the Barunga region, Northern Territory, every year since 1990, with Ngadjuri people since 1998, and with Adnymathahna people since 2020.

Mike Morley
Mike is a geoarchaeologist with over 20 years’ experience working in both academic and commercial environments. His primary area of expertise is the study of archaeological site formation processes and the reconstruction of palaeoenvironments at various scales through the study of site micro- and macro-stratigraphy, geological sequences and geomorphological landforms. He is interested in reconstructing changes in geomorphological systems (e.g., river behavioural change) and the implications of these dynamics on humans (and hominins) living in and interacting with these landscapes.

Dr Daryl Wesley
Dr Daryl Wesley is a multidisciplinary archaeologist with over 25 years of experience in field archaeology, rock art studies, archaeological sciences, heritage conservation, and anthropological research. His expertise spans the breadth of Indigenous and historical archaeology in the Northern Territory, Australia, with a particular focus on culture contact between Southeast Asians, Europeans, and Aboriginal peoples in remote north-western Arnhem Land. Daryl’s research is distinguished by its multidisciplinary approach, integrating ecology, zoology, geology, and geomorphology with archaeological analysis.

Strong results in your Research Project B subject along with your Year 12 results can be considered for entry.
By using three of your best Year 12 grades, you can also gain a place in your course of choice.
Your school’s recommendation about your academic performance may be considered as part of your admission.
If you’re studying at another university, you may be able to transfer to Flinders based on your Yr 12 results, current GPA or other factors.
Even if you didn’t finish high school (Year 12), you may be able to study at Flinders through your TAFE/VET qualification.
You may be able to complete a TAFE SA course and have guaranteed entry into Flinders.
The TAFE/VET stud you’ve already done may be able to be used as credit towards a Flinders’ course.
The Foundation Studies Program is free and guarantees entry to a range of degrees.
The STAT is a 2-hour multiple choice test that assesses your abilities.
