What happens after you apply?

Once your application is in, what happens next depends on the offer you receive. Know your options now so you can make your next move with confidence.

You receive your first preference

Congratulations. Read your SATAC offer and Flinders welcome email carefully. Some courses have an enrolment deadline, so follow the instructions provided and formally accept your Flinders offer to secure your place.

You receive another preference

If you receive an offer to a lower preference, you can still be considered for higher preferences you’re eligible for in later SATAC offer rounds. Check that your preference order still reflects what you want most.

You don’t receive an offer yet

You may still be considered in further offer rounds. Explore courses that remain open, check your pathways and keep your preferences in the order that best reflects your study goals.

Guaranteed Entry

Know where you stand before offers are released.

If you achieve an ATAR equal or above the published guaranteed entry selection rank and you meet course prerequisites, you will be guaranteed a place at Flinders. We offer guaranteed entry for most courses.

When applying, make sure you select Flinders courses first in your preferences and you will be offered a place in the highest Flinders course preference that you are eligible for.

How do I change my SATAC preferences?

To change your preferences on your SATAC application, you need to log back into your application via SATAC website and alter your preferences in the relevant section and make sure you select 'save'.

What is a SATAC offer round?

An offer round is when you are notified by SATAC with a formal offer to study. If you don’t receive an offer in one round, you may still be considered in later rounds. For advice, do not hesitate to contact us.

How do I respond to my offer?

If your application to study at Flinders University is successful, you will receive an email with your offer letter from SATAC on behalf of Flinders. If you have received an offer to your first preference, this will automatically be accepted on your behalf in your SATAC application. You will still need to formally accept the offer with Flinders. It is important to read your offer letter carefully as it contains important information about how to accept your offer and may include an enrolment deadline to secure your place in your course.

To formally accept your offer, you need to:

Log in to the Student System.
Select the ‘My Offers’ tab.
Click on the ‘View/Respond to my Offer’ link on the left hand menu.
The ‘My Applications’ window will display all offers awaiting a response.
Click on ‘Respond’ for the offer you wish to accept.

When do I have to respond to my university offer?

It is important to read your offer letter carefully as it contains important information about how to accept your offer and may include an enrolment deadline to secure your place in your course.

Can I receive more than one offer in each offer round?

You will only receive one offer in each offer round.

I didn't receive an offer to my first preference and I'm unsure whether I should accept an offer to my lower preference. What should I do?

If you are offered a 2nd to 6th preference course SATAC we will accept the offer on your behalf. To secure your place, you are required to formally accept in the Flinders system and enrol in your course as per the instructions in your offer letter. You will still be considered for your higher preference(s) in future offer rounds if you are eligible. If you’re unsure whether to change your preferences, talk to a Flinders adviser first.

Now that I have my university offer, can I defer?

Provided you formally accept your offer in the Flinders system and do not proceed to the enrolment stage, your offer will be deferred on your behalf. However if you receive a Flinders offer to one of the following courses, you will be required to either Accept and Enrol or Defer by a deadline as stated in your offer letter to secure your place in the course. Please read your offer letter carefully.

I've accepted my university offer, when will I receive enrolment information?

Follow the instructions in your offer letter from SATAC to activate your Flinders account which will allow you to begin your enrolment immediately via your student system.

What if I don't like the degree I've started?

If you started studying a degree at Flinders and decided that it wasn’t for you, you can apply to transfer to selected Flinders degrees via internal transfer. In March and April, Flinders will offer drop-in advice sessions on changing your course. Contact us on 1300 354 633 for assistance.
