Choose your major:

  • Active & Healthy Communities
  • Applied Sports Science
  • Outdoor Education
  • Sports Business

Pursue one of these majors to explore an area of specialised interest and focus your future career, or choose your own adventure and discover areas you're particularly passionate about as you study.

Active and Healthy Communities

Sport has the power to positively impact entire communities, and with a rise in demand for people with sports qualifications in government, local councils and not-for-profit organisations, you can help make a difference by majoring in Active and Healthy Communities.

Flinders graduate Christian Thiel  now works as a Regional Community Development Manager at the Drug and Alcohol Foundation, Australia's leading prevention organisation in the alcohol and drug sector.

Christian Thiel graduated with the Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Activity, now replaced by the Bachelor of Sport and Active Recreation.

Applied Sports Science

Behind every athlete is a group of people helping prepare and develop them for success. Majoring in Applied Sport Science allows graduates to work with athletes and teams to improve key areas of their performance through guidance and coaching.

Flinders graduate Velvet Klass now works as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at Player Performance Project, while also coaching state junior girls soccer and running her own health seminars focusing on female athletes and the menstrual cycle.

Velvet Klass graduated with the Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Activity, now replaced by the Bachelor of Sport and Active Recreation.

Outdoor Education

If you love being connected with nature, you're passionate about the environment and you can't get enough of the outdoors, make it your career by majoring in Outdoor Education. Turn life into an adventure and work with communities to get the most out of the environment and themselves through activities such as bushwalking, mountain biking, kayaking and rock climbing.

Flinders student Tim Hennekam has been able to enter the industry as an Outdoor Educator at St Peter's College with the knowledge and skills he has already gained from his degree so far.

Sports Business

Our Sports Business major is the perfect choice if you’re passionate about sport and interested in a career in the business. You'll explore marketing management, leadership, and learn about creativity from a psychological and sociological perspective.

Flinders graduate Luke Meyer now runs his own business, Stay Active Children's Sports Programs, which allows him to mix his passion for sport and the community with sports industry related business skills learned throughout his degree.

Luke Meyer graduated with the Bachelor of Sport, Health and Physical Activity, now replaced by the Bachelor of Sport and Active Recreation.
