Game developers are in high demand across entertainment, defence, simulation, education and more. You’ll graduate ready to create experiences that inform, train or inspire.
Game developer
Game developers design, code, and shape the worlds that players explore. They work across a range of settings in Australia, from small indie studios to large AAA teams, and may also take on freelance projects. The industry is expanding rapidly, with opportunities in entertainment, education, and simulation.
The role combines technical and creative skills, involving the use of computer software and hardware to build game frameworks, engines, and features. Developers also design and refine gameplay elements, test and debug systems, and solve problems using logical and methodical approaches.
Simulation software engineer
Beyond gaming, simulations are used in defence, aviation, health and emergency services. You’ll develop training programs and virtual environments that teach real-world skills.
These roles combine creativity with high responsibility, often in collaboration with experts from other industries.

Accreditation or Professional Recognition
All our Bachelor of Information Technology and Bachelor of Computer Science degrees are accredited by the Australian Computer Society at the professional level. Professional ICT courses accredited by the Australian Computer Society are recognised internationally under the Seoul Accord. Graduates meet the academic requirements for attaining chartered status as ICT professionals.

Not at all. This course focuses on the tech side of game development—programming, systems and interaction design.
Yes. You'll work on real projects and prototypes throughout the course—including a major capstone game in your final year.
You’ll use industry-standard tools like Unity and Unreal Engine, plus learn the underlying code and theory behind them.
Not at all. You’ll also explore serious games and simulations used in health, defence, education and more.
